Vote

Alrighty, most of the time I try to avoid politics for 2 reasons: 1) I don't really like them, they are kind of confusing, and I dont want to offend anybody with what I think and believe. 2.) It's dumb. But with these elections I want to kind of jump on the bandwagon and tell you all to vote. 

I'm sorry if my opinion offends you but I need to say, Donald Trump is running a campaign based on fear and hate. It kind of amazes me that people listen to the things he says and still want him to lead the country. One thing I have been wondering, for those of you who do support Trump, why? I really, honestly want to know what it is about him and what he is saying that makes you want to support him. It fascinates me. I hope the answers are more supbtantial than those in these two videos... Make America Great and Conspiracy Theories. 

As for Hillary, shes not much better. She spends most of her time defending herself against what Trump says about her, rather than telling us what shes going to do. She has made some statements about what her plans are and they sound alright. So, for those of you who support Hillary, why? What about her policies and plans makes you want to vote for her? I hope people are paying attention to what these candidates are saying, unlike in this video... Hillary Quotes

YOUR Thoughts

I have no thoughts this week my friends. You see, its midterms week... aka one of the worst weeks for college students. My brain is a little fried and I have had no time to actually observe what is going on in the world. OK that's not exactly true, but in my opinion it hasn't been anything that's very interesting to me.
But, unless you find the academic world of marketing management or career development in psychology particularly interesting, I could give you my thoughts on that. I don't want to put you (or me) to sleep, though. So I wont do that.

Perhaps you could tell me what has been interesting to you this week? or not...you know, that's cool too.

Where they lead, I will follow...

Ok, so.. A little FYI about me, I am a huge Gilmore Girls fan. I've seen all seven seasons more times than I can count. I can practically recite every episode, that's how deep this goes. I've been keeping up with the revival that is happening on Netflix with this show and I can't tell you how excited I am for it! 

For those that don't know or have a passing interest in what I'm talking about, Gilmore girls was a show that sort of revolutionized mother daughter relationships in 2000 when it first aired. A show about the lives of a single mother and her daughter who live in a small town and the antics they get into and the problems they face as they go through dating, school, marriage, college and a lot more. It ended in 2007, but not how the writers envisioned it (agreement issues with the network). 

Nine years later, its coming back and concluding how the writers really wanted it to. The revival is to be four 90-minute episodes on Netflix set to air November 25. 

This is like a dream to me! This is probably one of the shows I quote the most, because of its quirky, hilarious one-liners. I fully plan to let you know my thoughts about how the episode are once they air.

If you like fast-paced comedy, drama, and/or romance I highly recommend you watch the show. It's great for binge-watching, also. 

Opinion: Apple Airpods

This may be old news, but I need to get this off my chest, and see what you guys think about it.

Apple. What is the deal with the no headphone jack thing?

OK, they want to get rid of it for aesthetic purposes and to make it more waterproof, but then they go and demand we have to use the Airpods? Never mind that they cost $160, or that people are going to lose them within the first 20 minutes of getting them. Yes, one could get the headphone adapter, but that's not exactly aesthetically pleasing, and not to mention that's another accessory one has to keep in mind not to lose.

Then there is the whole other issue of those who have bought Beats headphones (which is a subsidiary of Apple, by the way). What is going to happen to those sales?
Is Apple trying to get people to buy the wireless Beats? Or are they only succeeding to drive sales away? Beats was a great acquisition by Apple-- not to mention the biggest one they have ever done, so far. I don't understand why they wouldn't put Beats to better use within the business.

On A Personal Note...

So, I was planning to give my thoughts on the premier of some TV shows, but I missed the TGIT (Thank God Its Thursday) shows last night-- Grey's Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder. :( Even as a college senior, homework is still a thing. Anyways, I thought I would take this post to tell you more about myself and how I think. 

First, I guess I should say that I was raised by two loving parents who never told me that I couldn't do anything,  unless i was trying to stick my had on the stove. I grew up in the mountains, so I enjoy spending time outside. I appreciate the art and natural beauty of nature. I think that appreciation extends into other things as well, like music, seemingly crappy movies, technology, and other weird things you wouldn't really think to be artistic and beautiful.

For example, 3D printers. One wouldn't really consider a printer beautiful, but I kind of do. The way that someone came up with the idea, and was able to put it into existence. The way each part moves, has a purpose, and works to be able to do something that wasn't even really thought of. It’s beautiful to me.

And if from this explanation you can’t tell that I’m a bit of a romantic then I will say it: I am a bit of a romantic. I don't even know if I want to get into this because I could go on and on about how much I love reading romance novels, getting lost in the love story of two fictional characters, and how I guess that makes me see things through rose-colored lenses; but I won’t. What I will say is that I don't think I actually see things through rose-colored lenses. I think that I have been through enough things and meet so many different people from all walks of life to know what life is really like and that I shouldn't take an unrealistic positivity to it all.

Out of all of this I hope that you all understand that I do try to see the beauty and art in everything. And in that, it does mean that I do see the ugly side too. I try to walk that fine line, I suppose.

50 Shades of Excitement

Hello friends!
I don't know if you have heard, or seen (or care), but 50 Shades Darker (check out the trailer!) is coming upon us! Now, I realize that a lot of people didn't even like the first movie, or even read the books. That's ok. I completely understand why they wouldn't like the movie or be hesitant to read them. But for those of you that did like the movie or read the books, can you feel my excitement right now?! I will admit that I wasn't particularly thrilled with the first movie, but I also understand that you can't put everything into the movie that was in the books.
For this reason I am willing to give the second movie a clean slate. I will not judge it based on the first movie. I will (try to) give it a fair chance. I do hope it doesn't disappoint though.

Cloudy With a Chance of Burritos?

The other day my friend sent me a text message. The text was a link to an article on CNN titled "Google Drones will deliver Chipotle burritos at Virginia Tech". After reading the title alone I went through about 5 different emotions in that moment: shock, disbelief, anger, jealousy, and more jealousy. Hopefully it's obvious why (if not, Virginia Tech is my hometown, though I do not attend VT; and who wouldn't want Chipotle delivered to them on campus?). After taking a second and getting over myself, I took the time to read the article. I found it to be a fairly interesting, short read. Google is taking the time to test out drones and how to package sensitive items. Reading also made me realize that it's not what it seems. Not everyone gets burritos, only a select few in a closed off area of their campus. This knowledge gave me a sort of glee.

However, with all the drone testing happening with not just Google but with many different companies over the past few years, this shouldn't really be a shocking thing to me. Amazon has been doing similar testing in California, not with burritos -- obviously -- but still. Dominos has been testing pizza delivery by drones in New Zealand (someone take me to New Zealand, please!). Therefore, why not Virginia Tech and Chipotle burritos? Virginia Tech is one of the best engineering schools (top 20), so why not test one of the leading innovations there? Their engineering program is outstanding. For example, I know a student has made a magnetic lock for his apartment door... seriously, who does that?! 

Anyways, I'm hoping Google will want to continue testing their drones in other locations, namely anywhere I am. I also hope that they have lots of success so that drones can deliver food everywhere. Because, let's be honest, that would be pretty awesome.
